Every cell of our being vibrates to a particular sound frequency and emanates color. Color Therapy is all about focusing on, or basking in, particular colors with the intention of balancing our energetic system. For example, warming colors are energy activating and rejuvenating; cooler colors are soothing and calming. The use of color is especially effective for balancing emotions.
According to some Eastern cultures, the human body has 7 major chakras (swirling energy vortices) and many more minor chakras, as well as acupuncture points (gateways) along a system of energy meridians. Each major chakra is associated with a particular color and sound. When out of balance with the rest of the chakra system, the color of a particular chakra may be overbearingly strong or pale and weak. We can feed a chakra with its color if weak, magnify a complimentary color to adjust the “volume” and strength of a chakra, or adjust the volume of other chakras to bring them into better balance and harmony.
There are many ways we can feed ourselves with color----through the food we eat, through the clothes we wear, through visuals we watch or bask in, through the gateway of Sound, and more.
